The pioneer missionaries of Baptist Mid-Missions started their work in the year 1935 in Cachar district of Assam. They saw an acute need for trained young men and women to reach the needy multitudes with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. With this in view, they started a correspondence course in Manipuri. In addition they were also reaching the people through the Medical Evangelism Training Programmes in their hospitals and through a Manipuri Bible School. Although these efforts met the immediate needs to certain degree, yet they were found inadequate in achieving the desired goal. At the same time the newly formed believers’ groups began to feel the need of well-trained men and women to minister among them. These gave rise to a burden for a Bible College in this part of Northeast India and as a result, Northeast India Baptist Bible College was born in 1976.
Purpose
The purpose of Northeast India Baptist Bible College & Seminary is to train men and women whom God has called for His service. The seminary seeks to equip the whole person with sound Biblical knowledge, effective leadership training, preaching and teaching capabilities, and zeal for mission for winning lost souls.

Philosophy
The training of the students in Northeast India Baptist Bible College & Seminary centers around the Bible, the word of God. The educational philosophy is based on God’s revelation rather than man’s vain speculation. Although the Seminary tries to provide a comprehensive information to the students, its training is not geared toward neo-orthodoxy, speculative modernistic and liberal theology, and other kinds of systems which de-emphasize the propositional truths of the Bible. The position of this Seminary is a unique one in a sense that in the days when most of the theological institutions are infiltrated by liberal and ecumenical teachings, it stands as theo-centric rather than anthropo-centric institution.
The Seminary is in no way affiliated or sympathetic to the ecumenical movement launched through World Council of Churches and its associates. This institution stands for ecclesiastical separation in historic fundamental Baptist faith. Northeast India Baptist Bible College & Seminary will not only oppose the unbiblical and heretical movements, but also will take lead in exposing vehemently the errors and dangers of movements such as liberalism, ecumenism, modernism, neo-orthodoxy and so forth.
The training in this institution is geared to a local church ministry. The Seminary endeavors to integrate the academic of classroom with practical works on the field.
The Seminary is committed to academic excellence. It does not seek to compromise the excellency of its training to any other cause. It shall provide a vigorous training, academic and practical, including character building. This Seminary is not to be viewed as a correction center or a place where English may be learned, or merely as a degree granting institution. This is a place strictly for those who have a call and exhibited a burden for ministry of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Location
The college is ideally located in a very good part of Silchar town and is surrounded by various government offices. Within five minutes walk one can have access to the Head Post Office, Deputy Commissioner’s Office, and Indian Airlines office. Silchar town is connected with other parts of the country by road, railway and airlines. Several bus stations are located within one kilometer and the railway stations within two kilometers from the college.
Affiliation
Northeast India Baptist Bible College & Seminary is an autonomous institution and is not affiliated with any other organization, nor does it seek accreditation with any other agency. This Seminary rather prefers to maintain its stand on ecclesiastical and doctrinal separation than to obtain recognition through compromise and accommodation of differing position.
Government
Northeast India Baptist Bible College & Seminary is a registered body under Societies Registration Act as an education institution. The Seminary is governed by a group of men drawn from the fellowshipping churches and associations bodies of like faith. The President of the Seminary is the Chief Administrative Officer of the institution.
Finance
Northeast India Baptist Bible College & Seminary is run through the voluntary gifts and donations from individuals and churches across the world.
Campus Facilities
Buildings
The campus is occupied with different buildings like Administrative Office, Faculty study room, class rooms, library, separate boys’ and girls’ dormitory, staff quarter and auditorium.
Bookstore
Christian Literature House which is a sister organization, dealing in Indian as well as foreign publications, is located in one section of the Seminary campus. This provides a golden opportunity for the students to have access to good books at a discounted price.
The college also runs a free literature distribution department where the students can obtain free books or literatures when available.
Recreation Facilities
Another feature for the students in the campus is the recreation facilities such as, volleyball, badminton, table tennis, carom etc. There are two swings where the students can hang around in their free time. The students, sometimes, are also allowed to go and play games like football and cricket outside the campus.
Annual sports week is conducted every year at the beginning of November. Other activities like fellowship night every month, college picnic every year at January are some other features.
